We Hire People of Character

It is important that Canada's Wonderland hires employees with specific character traits that mirror our operating philosophy built around our four cornerstones that are bound by INTEGRITY.

Character traits are developed over a long period of time and are what makes a person who they are; they are not trained. The people we hire will be honest, polite, and take pride in their achievements. They will have the desire to work on a team and be interested in learning. The people we hire will want to work hard and have fun at the same time. They will be friendly and care about people. If this is who you are, then we encourage you to apply for a seasonal job with us.

Our Hiring Process

Canada's Wonderland receives over 18,000 applications for seasonal employment each year. We have 4,000 positions to fill and have a stringent screening process in place to select and hire only those candidates who demonstrate they have the kind of character we are looking for.

All applications are individually screened and only those qualified will be granted an opportunity to move on to the interview stage of our process. Candidates who submit an application online will receive an automated email response that indicates their application has been successfully transmitted. If you do not receive an email contact our office directly.

Tips on Completing the Job Application

A job application is a legal document and should therefore, be completed with care. Applications that are sloppy, incomplete or use unprofessional language will not be successful in moving on to the interview stage.

Before submitting your application, we recommend that you read it carefully and check the following:

  • The application is filled out completely.
  • There are no spelling errors.
  • Slang language is not used in responses that leave space for detail.
  • Full sentences are used where possible.
  • The responses are honest; you will be signing the document.

Interview Tips

  • Be on time. Five or ten minutes early is about right!
  • Dress to impress; athletic attire is not recommended. Also, lose the hat!
  • Don't chew gum.
  • Be neat, clean and well groomed.
  • Smile and make eye contact with your interviewer(s).
  • Use a good handshake either at the beginning or end of the interview.
  • Use good posture; slouching does not make a positive impression!
  • Be polite, honest and sincere.
  • Show interest in the job and our company by asking questions.

The Interview Process

  • Involves two steps for all seasonal positions, often done on the same day
    • Pre-screen interview with a Recruiter from Human Resources
    • Department interview with a member of the Management team
  • In most cases, the candidate will be notified at the time of the pre-screen interview whether or not they will move on to the next interview. Also in most cases the candidate will find out the day of their department interview if they are successful or not. For more specialized roles the department will interview all candidates prior to making any decisions. In this case, successful candidates will be contacted within two weeks. Examples where this would be the case are in the Marketing, Finance, Maintenance, Human Resources, Loss Prevention, Systems, Group Sales and Distribution departments.
  • Many departments conduct group interviews with several candidates at one time. We are looking for people who are outgoing, friendly and comfortable interacting with other people.
  • A basic math test is required for all positions requiring cash handling or other calculations on the job.
  • Be prepared to discuss examples from your past (previous jobs, school, volunteer work, clubs etc.) when responding to questions. Practice ahead of time!
